Abstract Submissions Are Now Closed

Humans' attitudes toward, and relationships with, animals are constantly changing.

​

We are seeking research abstracts for presentations and symposia that highlight changes involving humans' interactions and relationships with companion animals, farm animals, laboratory animals, captive wildlife, and wildlife conservation initiatives.

Abstract Deadline:

January 29, 2021

17:00 Eastern Standard Time

Presentation Submission Options:

 

  1. Standard pre-recorded oral presentations (15 minutes)

  2. Brief, pre-recorded oral presentations (5-7 minutes; i.e. flash talks)

  3. Pre-recorded presentation (15 minutes) that is part of a symposium

  4. Chair a complete symposium on a topic of your choice

Please note that accepted presentations must be pre-recorded and submitted by May 15, 2021. Presentation authors are expected to register for the conference will have the opportunity to participate in question and answer sessions during the conference.

We are particularly interested in presentations on the following research topics:

  • Conducting research in pandemic times 

  • Protecting human-animal relationships during natural disasters

  • Community-based initiatives to increase pet adoption and retention

  • Ethical considerations in human-animal interaction research

  • Attitudes towards veganism and vegetarianism

  • Lifespan perspectives on the human-animal relationship

  • Children's attitudes toward wildlife

  • The changing status of cats in research and in the home

  • Studying animal behavior in human-animal interaction contexts

  • Changing perspectives regarding laboratory animals

  • Changing perspectives regarding captive wildlife

  • Human-wildlife conflict in the 21st century

  • The pet effect 

  • Companion animals and their caregivers

  • The impacts of service animals on veterans

  • Efficacy of animal assisted interventions 

  • Equine-assisted interventions

  • Therapists, facilitators & handlers

  • Human-animal interaction in educational settings

  • Innovative study designs, methods and outcomes

  • Leveraging technology in human-animal interaction research

  • Researchers, communities, and the public (translational approaches)

  • Depictions of animals in art, literature, and culture

Abstract submissions regarding any aspect of anthrozoology are welcome for consideration.
